Manuel E. Garrido started working in jewelry at the age of thirteen while going to school. He was very enthusiastic about jewelry from an early age.
At eighteen he studied Art History. At this time he began to get his inspiration for his jewelry designs from the classics, especially the Etruscan and Roman jewelry. He created according to his criteria until he was able to transform the piece in a way that its value was not only the one given by the gold and precious stones but also the one given by the variety of the creations.
He traveled around the world, a helpful factor to keep his creativity in constant evolution, maintaining the spirit that has characterized Mara Diseño. S.L.
In 1982 Manuel created Mara Diseño, S.L. together with his wife, Mara Rodriguez, who was to become the president of the company. Right now their two daughters Laura and Helena work in the company in the production department, continuing in this way the jewelry family tradition that was started by Manuel’s grandfather eighty years ago.
In November 2000 they were awarded the World Quality Commitment Award in Madrid recognizing their work and effort throughout the years. |
